Slip,the notion being of a shoe that is "slipped" onto the foot.This is the "etymology" of the object what we are talking about today---slipper.

Every morning when you wake up in sleeping ,you put your feet into slippers completely unconscious,you may not realize how important role they play in your daily life.You may not think that this “lowest”stuff with your personal odor appear with the progress of human society,and the history of its evolution is really a long story.

In prehistoric societies,realizing that they cannot go hunting with barefoot,people invented simple "shoes".But after they go back home which are built with stones and haystacks，they don't need other shoes to change.Because the condition they live is much worse than their feet.

With the progress of various conditions,people felt the necessity to have feet relax at home and also keep it clean both in feet and the house clean.But unfortunately only few of them have the economic ability to improve.Like all other products,they appear first in upper class,becoming the symbol of rights and status.While common people were worried about rent,water leaking of houses,even do they really need slippers in such a messy house.

Finally one day slippers come into our lives,and we can really separate our part-time from work and feel so relax at home.So it becomes a symbol of private space(especially in China,feet of women are relatively private).Only at home can you have such a lazy and relax state.At the same time period,slippers are considered unofficial and non-respect to public,and they are forbidden in formal occasions such as church and theater.Because people give more meanings to slippers more than the simple function,it also means a "slot" life altitude and many other things.

But purpose of slippers change with time,now people can enjoy the joy of slippers even outside,they call that "flip flop fashion".Especially in summer,when youthful girls wandering in street with their havaianas limited edition slippers,they constituting the most beautiful scenary in cities.Designers create various kinds of slippers.And if you are interested in history you will find that slippers are always an important part of art creation,for example,in books,in fairy tales,in movies and even on the stamps and paintings!Don't forget that in some museums there are precious collection of slippers in different periods.

So take any simple object around you and try to have a careful observation,you can find many details you never notice before.These stories consist of the object in you hand and these objects,consist of our lives.

The poor little girl went outside to sell matches in a cold and snowy night,with a pair of large and unsuitable slippers.

And the poor little thing lost her slippers as she scuffled away across the street, because of two carriages that rolled by dreadfully fast.
